3D printers can run all night, but they stop the moment a print finishes and the plate needs clearing. The PlateCycler C1 from Chitu Systems solves that for the Bambu Lab A1 by swapping plates automatically. Here's how it works.
Chitu Systems makes 3D printer accessories and consumables, including PlateCycler auto plate changers, FilaPartner filament dryers, resin vats, LCD screens and Conjure filament and resin.
The PlateCycler C1 is an automatic build plate changer for the Bambu Lab A1. After one print finishes, it moves the completed plate out and loads the next, so several jobs can run without you stepping in.
Chitu Systems says you can start once and print across up to 8 plates. The standard kit includes 4 PEI double-textured plates, and extra 4-plate sets are available.
Unlike kits made from 3D-printed parts, the C1 uses injection-molded components for a cleaner finish, more consistent fit and smoother plate cycling.
It installs without disassembling the printer or making permanent modifications, and Chitu Systems says the A1's original warranty is preserved.
The Chitu Systems Web Tool lets you arrange plates and preview print time and filament use, and offline tools are available too. It's also compatible with the AMS Lite.
If your Bambu Lab A1 was purchased before April 8, 2024, check whether it has the silicone backstop, as that may prevent the C1 from installing or working properly.
At the time of writing, the C1 Standard Kit with 4 PEI plates is listed at $99.99, and an extra 4-plate set is $39.99. A C1M version for the A1 Mini is also available.
The PlateCycler C1 suits A1 owners running batch prints, overnight jobs, Etsy orders, cosplay projects or small print farms.
Chitu Systems offers free shipping and runs filament sales alongside its hardware.
The PlateCycler C1 is a well-built, easy-to-install upgrade that gets a lot more uptime out of the Bambu Lab A1.
